Can you tell me a little bit about Zombie City?

Been a band for about 2 years now... decided to be a Horror band because Horror is my thing, so I was out looking for people with the same taste to be in the band.

For being in a psychobilly band with no stand up bass, that’s a little different. Would you say that’s what makes you different from other psychobilly bands?

It could make us a bit different because we have no stand up... but it also makes Zombie City different by the sound of the music and lyrics we have. We do have Matt as singer and he's influenced by Sparky from DAG and Vlad from Os Catalepticos so that gives us the psychobilly part in the band.

Looks like you have a new CD coming out? When will that be ready to go?

We should be recording within a month or 2. Right now things are not going well with practices and stuff otherwise I could have said sooner, but hopefully everything goes well and we can get that record ready.

Who writes the music and who writes the lyrics?

Our old stuff, some songs were made by me and others by our old bassist and our old drummer wrote a few songs and so did Matt, but now the new stuff, all the music is created by me and lyrics are by vocalist Matt and with the bassist and drummer, they make the beat and just make sure it all fits and goes good.

Who do you guys look to for inspiration when you write your music?

Matt has now written lyrics that are way diff than our old stuff that you can hear on MySpace or our website. The new stuff is written by his crazy dreams he's had or just finding out really weird crazy ideas and thoughts in his head and sometimes I give him ideas as well. As for me on guitar, my influences which are Doyle, Paul, Galder, Silenoz, and Morgan [horror and black metal bands] I just try to come out with something good and get better at guitar... also the new songs will be heavier than the old.

When the record comes out, will you guys do a small tour or just play some local shows?

I'd want to do both. I'll send out a CD of a couple of songs to venues around Southern California and also send one out to record labels and hopefully get signed. If that happens, then we can talk about having a tour.

You do a lot of promoting on MySpace (I see it a lot). And that’s good. Would you say that that has helped with your fan base?

I believe so because some of our friends help us out on getting the word out about Zombie City and upcoming shows. It could also be that other people in different areas enjoy our music as well and decide to go to shows and check us out and also telling their friends about the upcoming shows and just spreading the word about us.

You just played with Michale Graves a few weeks ago at the Showcase? How was that for you guys?

It was good. It was a big, great honor to open up for him because Michale Graves is one of my heroes and favorite vocalists and same goes with the other members of the band. We're more into Michale Graves Misfits era more than Danzig's Misfits era.

Are there any other cool bands you have played with?

TSOL back in Feb, the Coffin Draggers, More Than Never, there's just so many big popular bands we've played with... We've had lots of shows for a 2 year old band, I think that’s good, whether its with Punk, Metal, Psychobilly, and of course Horror bands.

Anything else you would like to add?

Thank you for the taking time on giving Zombie City an interview. Thanks to all the fans, friends, and family for the support... Just like every other band says, couldn't do it without you all. Hopefully Zombie City stays alive and keeps getting more and more fans and support. Till then, take it easy!
