Under a Nightmare’s CD Monsters 89 comes as a bit of surprise. It doesn’t run in the normal vein of horrorpunk. This is more like Monster Rock with an emphasis on the rock. Rather than just stick to the horrorpunk formula, Under a Nightmare takes a chance by infusing their sound with more of a rock feel, not quite metal but definitely metal influenced. Sure the lyrics are still about monsters and things that go bump in the night, but there is definitely more of a good rock and roll feel to this CD that places it above some of the other releases in this genre. Worth a listen if you like metal tinged rock about monsters and I do! Stand out tracks include “Can’t Wait til Halloween” “Blood on the Wall”, and “Make Me a Zombie”.
