Dead Boy Productions Interviews More Than Never

Dead Boy is here with the band more than never. So tell me guys where are you from?

Bryan: Well homebase is Burbank.

How many times have you played here (the Showcase)?

Bryan: Oh maybe five or six times. This is actually the last Showcase show for us since they are closing.

The band name More Than Never. Is there anything behind it?

Bryan: Kamer and I had a band previous to this called Collapse and it collapsed, don’t ever name your band something like that, so it was basically that and then I was flipping through a magazine looking for things for a band name and there was a coupon that said “Lowest Prices More than Ever” and actually the very first shows we played we were More Than Ever, and now its kind of a play on the fact that our last band never played out. We found out that there was a Christian band called More Than Ever so we added the N and became More Than Never.

What are the influences behind the band? Any time we talk to band we get all kinds of different influences so what about this band?

Kamer: All three of us (Kamer, Mark, Bryan) come from different musical backgrounds. It all kind of meshes together. What we create is our own

Bryan: I like his (Kamer’s) guitar playing because he has a bluesy quality to it.

Mark: It comes from his gaydom! (laughter)

Bryan: I have to do the Kerry King covered up with a wah pedal

Kamer: Mark is the drum machine.

Bryan: Mark is the real musician in the band. The first practice he ever came to, I gave him a CD, and he actually came to rehearsal with it handwritten in sheet music.

Oh shit, that is a real musician (laughter)

Mark: It’s funny, Bryan and I lived across from each other and I would always see him go by and I was sitting at my window on the computer looking at porn and stuff and he walked by and I asked where he was going and he said he was going to practice and I told him to let me know if he ever wanted to jam because we had separate bands and he said OK. He leaves and like four minutes later comes back and said “hey our drummer just flaked on us. Do you want to come out?” I said OK and then that kind of started the whole thing.

So where does the horror part of this band come in?

Bryan: We are all horror fans really. It’s probably going to be a very likely answer. We all like the B-level horror movies. Night of the Living Dead, I remember that from high school. I was taking a class and the teacher was asking “What’s your favorite tragedy?” Everybody was mentioning “Romeo and Juliet” and I said Night of the Living Dead, the hero dies at the end. “Oh you can’t put that”. Bullshit I can’t put that, the hero dies at the end. Fucking hero dies at the end.

Do you read comic books?

Bryan: Of course, yeah.

What do you read?

Bryan: Oh, it’s so cliché, but the Walking Dead. It is
