Dead Boy Productions with The Koffin Kats

 

Koffin Kats! Please introduce yourselves.

Tommy: I'm Tommy Koffin or t-bags.

Vic: I'm Vic. As in Victor.

So tell us what kind of music you play for those who don't know?

Vic: Upright bass Rock.

Tommy: Psycho or punk whatever the hell we feel like writing I guess but mainly those two.

What bands have influenced you guys?

Tommy: Pennywise, Bad Religion, Minor Threat, a.f.i , to many others to mention.

Vic: Type O Negative, Bad Religion, Rammstein, Nekromantix was what really spun my head in this direction during High School.

You guys put on a great show what is the motivation?

Tommy: All the beer I drink before I get on stage and the fans.

Vic: I can’t stand bands that sound good on record but suck on stage. Even if we suck musically that night or every night. I at least want to get into it. People pay good money to see us be fools damnit!

When did you guys start calling yourselves the Koffin Kats?

Vic: After I realized I couldn't use the name V8 Nightmare, ex band mate bullshit.

Tommy: Back in 2003 when we started playing together.

How did the name come to be?

Tommy: Vic can answer best, but it had something to do with our buddy Sam.

Vic: Our buddy Sam. Samzig from Detroit. Excellent tattoo artist and drew up a good portion of our artwork. He came up with the name. then I stole it. (Laughs)

Since your debut in 2004 what has changed besides drummers?

Vic: We realized we could get away with playing whatever the hell we want and our fans still dig it. I think we got a shit ton faster. I care about the lyrics I write now. They have a little less cheese these days.

Tommy: Not my drinking habits, they are still as strong as ever and we are a lot faster now and more raw I think E-Ball Walls, are you in it to stay awhile or are you going to leave like the other chumps?

Vic: He's not here, but if he does leave he will have gotten me back finally for all of the other bands I've kicked him out of in the past. Shit, we have been in and out of bands together since the 10th grade.

Tommy: That mother fucker better, otherwise I've been wasting a lot of drinking time training him.

You guys are one of the nicest bands I've ever met what keeps you this way?

Tommy: Everybody being so nice to us plus you never know who your talking to, they could want to buy me a beer or two but not if I'm a prick to them.

Vic: Our fans are cool as fuck. We would be uncool as fuck to treat them like they were not cool as fuck.

Most memorable moment on tour so far?

Tommy: Seeing all the fans sing our songs and there is more and more of them every time we tour.

Vic: Any night we cant remember. I can always remember the usual next half day recovery. Tommy blacking out and pissing on the merch money he had from an LA show. The money was in his pants pocket.

What Bands have you toured with and would want to tour with?

Tommy: We've done a couple weeks with Demon City Wreckers, Rigor Phallus, G-string and soon the Gutter Punx. I would love to tour with Motley Crue. Too many other people to mention.

Vic: I would abort 5 feti to open for the Cure.

You guys drink and party on the road, does that ever get you in trouble?

Tommy: Not yet, should almost every night, but whatever.

Vic: Not that I remember. I'm sure we've pissed off or on, a few people here and there though.

Which city do you have the most fans in?

Tommy: I think San Antonio, and Corona both great cities love the fans.

Vic: Tommy forgot Brownsville Texas, and LA. Oh, and Detroit! I'm just kidding. Nobody knows who we are in Detroit (Laughs)

What are your goals for the band?

Tommy: To make it bigger than any of our friends so I can hold it over their heads, and not to work just write music for all the listeners.

Vic: Your a dick Bags! (Laughs) Shit, I think we just don't want to have to work normal shit jobs. Growing up we never had any money. Don't give damn if we ever do. Just not have to work anymore, that's the goal. Oh, not letting our music get too stale would be a good goal too I guess.
