The Koffin Kats - October 9th 2007 at Showcase Theatre
Koffin Kats, Calabrese, 12 Step Rebels, The Returners

So we got there late and missed the Returners, sorry guys next time. The stuff on their MySpace page sounds pretty cool so we will check you out again soon. Some other band was supposed to play, but got stuck on the 5 Freeway and anyone that lives in California knows that if you are stuck on a Freeway on a Friday night, then forget about it, whatever you wanted to do has to wait. Up next was the California return of the 12 Step Rebels. So we have seen them a few times with Tiger Army and with Mad Sin a few years ago and have their album “Go Go Graveyard Rocking”, which is a good release. Their live show was alright. They played a lot of their album and it was fun to see them look into what they are doing. New to the band this time around is a second guitarist, who seemed to be enjoying himself. Hopefully we will see them play out here again soon with everything fine tuned.

Up next was the mighty Calabrese. The only thing we were disappointed with in Calabrese was that their set wasn’t about an hour longer. They played most of their latest album “Traveling Vampire Show” and not much off of “13 Halloweens”, but it was still an enjoyable show complete with eerie green lights, pumpkins, strobe lights, and fog machines. They even did an encore that the crowd demanded playing the Misfits song “Where Eagles Dare”. We can’t wait to see them again.

Koffin Kats were up next. Now this is the first time we have seen the Koffin Kats live after various attempts that just hadn’t worked out. We were definitely impressed by the showmanship. They put on one hell of an entertaining show. Complete with Vic even cutting his forehead and the trading of instruments by Vic and Tommy Koffin for a few songs. They played lots of songs (over an hour’s worth) off of “Inhumane” including the crowd favorite “Chainsaw Massacre”. We got the chance to talk to Tommy and Vic after the set (they were hanging out meeting people, which is always points in my book) and they are very cool guys. Check them out soon.

Pics of the sets are available at www.myspace.com/deadboypro in the pics section and interviews with Calabrese and the Koffin Kats are available here on DeadBoyPro.com
