About Dead Boy Productions

The original idea for Dead Boy Productions was to promote local and national bands and to help promote and put on shows in Southern California. Unfortunately, that didn’t work. The project didn't exactly fail, butit was decided that it was not in best interest to keep it going. It was then decided that it was time to move on to something else. DeadBoyPro.com was still being paid for, and music promotion was still something that was enjoyable, so it was decided that DeadBoyPro.com would evolve into an online magazine with the mind set of focusing on local talent and subculture. With the help of a few friends DeadBoyPro.com became a semi successful subculture and music website...

Fast forward to today, and this is actually the third version of the website that we have launched. We decided that it was time to update the website and add(as well as delete) a few things that we might or might not use. We still focus on the bands, however now we will also focus on the lifestyle that we choose to call subculture. We are introducing columns by some pretty cool people who have a lot of stuff on their minds and want to get it out to anyone who is willing to listen(or in this case, to read). We do concert, CD and DVD reviews, and last but certainly not least, band interviews! There are still plenty more things that we will be doing in the near future that will focus on our scenes; punk, metal, ska, hardcore, rockabilly, psychobilly , and various other genres. We want to help anyone and everyone out there. So long as they are willing to put forth some effort to help themselves.

Internships/Jobs:
Q: Does your site have any internships or job openings available?
A: To put it bluntly, No. This site is independently owned and operated out of Dan's home with the help of a handful of other individuals. The site barely makes enough money to pay for the cost of hosting. Until it can make enough money to sustain itself no real "jobs" or internships will be available.

However, this does not mean that you can't get involved with DeadBoyPro.com. We are always looking for talented writers and photographers who are willing to volunteer their time or their work for the site. If you're a hardworking, fun loving music fan interested in writing reviews, columns, or conducting interviews, or feel you can offer another valuable service to the site e-mail us!

Shows:
Q: Can you help my band get a show?
A: No, we rarely book or promote shows. Though Dead Boy Productions was founded on this practice we have since shifted our efforts solely to this website. While we have been involved in the ocassional show, they are usually booked with predetermined bands.

Q: Will you come do a show review of my band?
A: Perhaps, but there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind when requesting that we come review your show. First of all, we all still have full time jobs outside of this website, meaning we are not always available to do a review of your show. If you are seriously considering having DeadBoyPro.com review your show send us some MP3's of your music and we'll consider it. Our decision will all depend on the quality of your band, how accessible your band is online (i.e. do you have a website, mp3s, etc), how hardworking your band is, and of course if one of our staff members is available for the show.

Band Publicity:
Q: How can my band be featured on deadboypro.com?
A: Your band can be featured on deadboypro.com through an interview, CD review, or show review. If you're interested in being featured by one of all of these means you will need to contact Dan to discuss specific plans for your band. When doing this it is beneficial to add your band name, band website address (if available), mp3 (i.e. myspace, purevolume, etc) website address, a brief description of your sound, and anything else you'd like to add that you feel would be valuable for us to know. The more information we have on your band to start the easier it is for us to decide whether or not we would like to feature your band.

Q: Will you link to my band's website?
A: Unfortunately we only link to a band's website if they are featured in one of our interviews, reviews, or articles. However, if you are interested we do offer banner advertising options.

Q: Can I submit my CD for review?
A: Absolutely! We are always looking to showcase new sounds and talent. However, it is important to remember that when sending a CD for review, you are doing just that. There's a chance that we won't give it any coverage, and there's a chance that we may review it, but not like it. If you're afraid of either of those possibilities, don't send a CD for review. Also, if we really like your CD, we may choose to do some sort of other feature instead of just a review. If you're still interested contact Dan for where to mail the CD to.

Q: How can my band get an interview?
A: Usually we'll get in touch directly if we're interested in interviewing a band. However, we always welcome your e-mails if you think we would be interested in interviewing your band. Again it is beneficial to provide information like that mentioned on how to get your band featured on our site.

Q: My band is from outside of the US, can you help us?
A: Of course! Many of the bands we have featured are based outside of the US, and many of our features are handled via e-mail, so you don't need to live here for us to feature your band.
