It's an honor to interview a member of HIMSA. Please introduce your self?

Thank you; I'm John (vocals)

How was it growing up in Seattle?

I actually grew up in a small town called North Bend about an hour east of Seattle. I was a loner and just watched horror movies and skated.

What first attracted you to horror and murder?

As far as I can remember it was Dracula movies. There was horror marathons on Sundays when I was growing up and I would stay in the house all day and watch. I've had this awe about vampires since I was a kid.

What keeps HIMSA going when things are not going so well?

We call all our own shots so things are usually ok. We take things as they come and roll with the punches, you have to live that way or it will destroy all you've accomplished.

Who came up with the layout for your site, very horrific?

Derek our bass player he is a weirdo but brilliant at the same time. HAIL the D!

Your past two records are pretty brutal. Do you see the sound changing for the next one?

Not really, we keep the formula but just fine-tune it.

Who chooses the designs for your merchandise, fucking brutal stuff?

Derek or myself. We bounce ideas of each other and come up with the blasphemy.

How did the last shows in December go?

We only played one on mine and Derek's birthday and it was awesome. I turned 35 and felt 19. The club went nuts and we filmed it.

When will you guys return to the road?

After the new record is finished we should be back out in summer time thru the year. We miss the road a lot.

Any memorable events on the road you'll like to share?

Every day is. We were shot at in Detroit twice.

You played with Danzig how was that?

Was the greatest tour I've been on. Felt like a kid every time he took the stage and I sang along every night. In Chicago he asked me what to play for encore and I replied "Souls on Fire" and they played it. AWE!

Some bands you'll like to tour with?

Neurosis, Eyehategod, At the Gates reunion, Cursed, Tragedy, Death in June.

You guys have a great live act what do you do to get pumped before you hit the stage?

Listen to Integrity.

What is the goal for HIMSA's career?

Longevity.

Any crazy fan stories?

Kids that get our name or logo tattooed.....crazy but flattered.

Favorite horror flick?

Bela Lugosi's Dracula.

Thanks HIMSA sincerely a true honor, any last words?

Thank you for your time and support, see you soon.
