Deadboypro.com interviews Hillbilly Hellcats

Mo "Barely Legal" Duke playing bass at a live performance.I was pretty excited to do this interview with the Hillbilly Hellcats. I got the chance to meet up with Chuck Hughes and take a shot of Jack with the man. They played in Long Beach @ The Blues Café. The live show was great. All new line up, but just as good. Here is what Chuck had to say.

So please introduce the current band?

Chuck Hughes - Guitar
Eric Dee Backwell -Bass
Ryan Nadloneck - Drums

Lets begin by you telling us about what happen, why the long wait (10years), I heard you guys broke up?

The original drummer Taz was only a studio player for us. After 1999 we were unable to find touring members, so just played a few local gigs in California and Colorado.

Why return now?

I was able to find touring members through MySpace bulletins and Craigslist, so I can tour now.

How is the current tour going?

On our 5th day it is going well.

What kind of reactions are you getting from your old fans?

Many have come out and are tickled to see us back.

Let’s talk about the what influences your music?

Everything I hear.

Any collaborations with other musicians in your songs or would like in the future?

NO!

Alley Dukes vocalist and guitarist Danny Duke performing live.Tell us a little about my favorite song "Drinkin' Buddies" that one always cheers me up?

That was written by Lance Romance, our original bassist. He will not tour. The Railbenders have covered it.

For the ladies what is the story behind " Hillbilly Love"?

No story-pure fabrication.

So a lot can happen in a decade what's new or different in music that you like and dislike?

I like Sage Francis and Atmosphere. Dislike John Meyer!

What can people expect at a Hillbilly Hellcat show for those who never heard of you?

Stuff like what is on www.myspace.com/hillbillyhellcats

Are you planning on staying and creating a new album?

Yes!

Any last words you like to say?

It is great to be back touring. Sorry I couldn't give longer answers. I am writing from the shotgun seat of the van while I am booking the eastern tour and navigating.

Cheers thanks a lot hope to be seeing you soon and people if you haven't heard; now you know!
