Psychobilly band Evil Devil - Group Photo

So who are we talking to today?

Hey, it's Teo here, greetz to anyone out there!

It’s been a long time since we heard anything about evil devil in the states, whats going on with you guys

Oh, it's a very busy period for us! Actually, at the moment we just finished to record a demo with the songs we're gonna put on our next album, it has been great to work this way, so we have more time to work on the arrangements and when we will go in studio for the real recording session, everyone already will know perfectly what to do and how to make his parts sounds...

How is the new album coming along?

This will be our 4th album and we wanted to make it the best possible, that's the reason why we decided to temporarily stop any live activity and concentrate only on the album... the new songs are great, I think we did a great job since now, and I am very happy because the better part still have to come...

You told me in a earlier email that you all had written enough material for you to make a new record while you were on the road in the US and Europe. Now with that out of the way, how easy (or hard) will it be to make the rest of the record?

It will be pretty easy, I presume... there's a good sintony (sic) among all of us... all in all is just a matter to put into music and lyrics the sensations we all shared when touring and playin' around... and all these sensations are still very alive inside any member of the band and the enthusiasm about the new record will make the rest in order to make things simple...

Now this past year was your first time on the west coast of the United States. I only really remember you all playing the Sshowdown in Hollywood. Was there anywhere else you got to play?

Actually it was the "Noche De Los Muertos III" organized by Ruben of Grease Demon Entertainment at the Key Club... and well, it was an exclusive show, so on the West Coast we only played there, even if in Nov. 2003 we already played 3 shows in the States, in NYC.

They say first impressions are a big deal to some people. How did you like the crowd in Hollywood? How about the actual city of Hollywood, what did you think about that?

And it's right! First impression is always very important, and according to the success we had in Hollywood, how could we have a bad impression about the crowd??? Well, what I personally noticed and liked mostly, is the fact that the scene seems hungry of psychobilly music, they really want to have bands and shows and they express all their happiness in a way that any band on stage would feel it... in some way, it seemed to me like the crowd has been an additional band member for the energy we received from them... they also made our show be special!

About Hollywood, well, I've been there before, in 2002, and also Davide (bass player) and Valerio (Drummer), in different periods. Personally I've been very impressed by the atmosphere, the lights, the feeling, it was great indeed and also last year I felt the same sensations but amplified by the fact that I was together with my bandmates, so this made it even more special!

Getting a taste of the states must have been nice. Would you like to come back to California, or even play more dates in the United States?

Of course we'd like to come there again! It would be great to have the opportunity to play also more shows in the States, who knows, after the new album will be released probably we will have a chance to do a tour there... that would be the best!

Psychobilly band Evil Devil performing live - Photo

You named your album (Drink to kill my Pain) after a song that wasn't even written by Evil Devil. Why?? That doesn't seem like something the average band would do?

Ahahah... good question... but you must know that all the album has been written as a "soundtrack" for an Horror-Western Comic that unfortunately has not been published yet, and that song was fitting perfectly as Album title because reflected some feelings that appear in the comic itself... Plus, Kamilla and Geoff of Horrorpops, who wrote the lyrics you mentioned (from the song "Burning Roses"), they are very good friends of us... they came to spend apart of their honeymoon in Italy with us when they get married and we had the chance to know each other properly by havin' very good time and fun. They caught the right "spirit and soul" of us, and that song is the proof. That's are the reasons we used that "phrase"...

I have been to some local record stores around here, where I live, and I know that it isn't that hard to get a hold of an Evil Devil CD, but what about other merch? Like t-shirts, patches, or buttons? Is it just that you have not picked up a distributor for that? Do you have one? Where can we get a hold of your stuff?
As far as I know, Amoeba Music Store in Sunset Blvd. should have our albums on sale... plus some other distributors in the States have it, and it's ok for us... anyway, people knows how to get our CDs...

About Merch, you are right, we haven't a distributor in the States yet... we used to sell our stuff mostly at shows or through our website since now. And actually after our last European Tour, all merch has been sold out. Obviously, with the new album, also new merch will be produced and we will try to find a way to make it easy to get a hold of it!

Ok man, I’m gonna get out of here, thank you again for taking some time out for us. Is there any last words you would like to share with us?

Yeah... it has been great to talk with ya, hope to have the chance to do it also face to face soon and in front of a couple of beers... just remember guys, you all are doin' a great job by spreading the psychobilly issues and makin' the people know about it... so, keep on workin' that way! And... stay DEAD!
