Please introduce yourself.

Rei Horror. Lead singer of The Coffin Caddies.

How was your 2007?

2007 has had a lot of good and weird turns. Our full length CD “I Dream of Jack-O-Lanterns” was finally released in June. Overall it took about 2 years to complete the album due to label issues. After the smoke finally settled we were able to finish the album and go on tour to promote it. This year we are doubling the amount of dates that we performed last year and are also adding west coast and Canada dates.

Where did the name Coffin Caddies come from?

When we originally started as a band we were using the name “Zombies Ate My Neighbors” but after a short time we came up with the conclusion that the name was just too long. So we ended up with the name “The Coffin Caddies after I heard a song from Tiger Army were Nick13 says “Get into my Coffin Cadillac”. And right there it hit me: The Coffin Caddies.

Your lyrics (as well as song titles) are influenced by more than just music, care to explain a little more?

Sure. Our lyrics are based on all comic books, cartoons, videogames or Action/Horror movies that I really enjoy. Whether, it’s Venom trying to kill Spiderman or how Michael Myers stalks Jaime Lee Curtis. My preference has always been to get into the head of the Anti-Hero and Super Villain because they are the ones with the true scary tale to tell. I ask myself. What could have gone so wrong in their lives to transform them into what they are now? I put a theory in my mind and let my pen do the talking.

Is this the bands’ first time coming out the to west coast?

Touring the west coast is something we have been planning for quite a long time, but never really had the chance to do it till now. Among this being the first west coast tour we do, this is also the first time that our friend JV Bastard of Michale Graves and Gotham Road will be picking up the guitar for the Coffin Caddies. Anyone that has seen his live performances will tell you he is one crazy motherfucker. Think about it. It’s perfect because we have heard so many wild stories about the west coast. So we are totally pumped up for it.

You guys have been around since 2000; do you have any horror stories of your own?

Well, back in 2005 we were coming back to Miami from a “out of town” gig when our van’s transmission blew out in the middle of nowhere. It’s around 3 A.M. in the morning. We had no reception and didn’t even get any road side assistance until 7:30 when a cop on her way to work stops and called the tow truck for us. We ended having to tow the van from Tampa to Miami because we couldn’t afford to buy a new transmission. Scary huh?

If you can change anything about your band, what would it be?

I don’t think we need to change anything. Not to sound cocky or anything, but I like the steady pace we have going for us. We are happy that our music is getting positive feedback from the people who come into direct contact with it. At the end of the day, everyone is going to have their own opinions on how everything should look and sound. But we prefer to leave the decision making to ourselves.

Any last words?

The Coffin Caddies would like to thank everyone that has supported us through out the years. We have fun doing what we do. It’s great to meet new people and share a common interest through our music

Thank you
