Deadboypro.com interviews the Kitten Koffin Zombies' Miss April 2008 April Marie

Kitten Koffin Zombies' Miss April 2008 - April MarieMiss April Marie was a swell kitten to chit chat with. She was enthusiastic, charismatic, and all around a true PinUp!  Her natural beauty and attitude will most definitely be a great foundation or fundamental core to kick start her career. Look out for this Kitten!

Create a short biography telling us a little about yourself

I'm April, I'm going to be 29 on May 1st, and moved to Los Angeles two years ago from the great city of Atlanta. I'm an aspiring pinup model who is kind of obsessed with clothes and loves to collect vintage-style dresses, wristwatches, and anything with Elvis or Hello Kitty on it; in short, I'm probably just like every other girl you know with the Bettie Page haircut.

How did you hear about the KKZ Contest?

I actually heard about it through Mitzi Valenzuela, the first photographer I worked with. She and Miss Rockwell DeVil, hold pinup workshops and offer advice on ways to break into the industry, and mentioned the Kitten Koffin Zombie contest as a great way to be seen. I'm glad I listened. Heh.

What does being Miss April mean to you?

It's incredibly flattering, first and foremost. As someone who is a total goofball (and that isn't meant as some cutesy and fakey modest Jenny McCarthy-esque “ I'm hot, but I fart, too fellas!” kind of thing—I'm absolutely a TOTAL GEEK and am very clumsy and awkward for the most part)it's been weird being seen as a pretty girl or whatever; it's not something I'm used to. It's kind of awesome, though, it makes me blush. I hope that it will get my name out there and I hope that it will also give me some legitimacy in the modeling world—that it will show photographers and designers that I'm serious about this and am eager to learn and grow.

April Marie poses as a farmer. Will you continue to model or was it a one time deal?

I will hopefully continue to model. I've actually done a couple of shoots since the contest that were lots of fun.

Whom have you worked with?

Mitzi Valenzuela, who is so awesome, and Charley Gallay who was great and hilarious. Miss Rockwell De Vil did my makeup on the first two shoots that I paid Mitzi to do, and Lisa Vixen did my make up for the shoot with Charley.  They have to be mentioned because they are amazing, especially, for transforming a makeup-clueless girl like me. I'm only just now really learning how to apply my own eyeliner.

Who are your influences?

Well, they are pretty varied. Right now I am 100% in love with Tina Fey. I think she is so gorgeous, so hilarious, so smart and just my version of the ideal woman. I think she is wonderful. Growing up I adored Jane Pratt, because I read Sassy Magazine voraciously and wanted so desperately to be the Editor-In-Chief of my own cool teen girl mag. I think the most beautiful woman in the world right now is this lady named Sharleen Spiteri, who is the lead singer of the band Texas. She has perfect skin, perfect teeth, and is just so.

What do you do for fun?

I write and make zines, and I go see live comedy. I'm a huge comedy nerd and I love stand-up. I also spend a great deal of time following Morrissey around, and will go see him whenever and wherever I can, money permitting. I go see lots of movies. I collect records. I travel. I like to eat, and if I had to choose one hobby to be top of the list it would definitely have to be eating. I'm a big fan of food.

Pinuip model April Marie poses in a classic pinup style/Likes, dislikes?

Food. Yep, I really like it. I like when people are polite and kind and have good table manners. I like when people are optimistic and assume the best. I like it when people take others' feelings into consideration before they do things. I like when people laugh at my jokes. I like it when people are really, really into something—even if it's something I don't like, I'm impressed when people know a lot about the things they are into. I LOVE ELVIS and can't believe I got this far without mentioning that! I will buy (and have bought) anything with Elvis's likeness on it. I like getting cool things in the mail. I like the South. I like dresses from Mode Merr and Stop Staring.

I dislike the same things most people do, I suppose: rudeness, meanness, know-it-alls, racism, sexism, Paris Hilton, etc. I hate it when people use quotation marks incorrectly on signs to presumably show emphasis. I don't like that I can't wear heels without feeling like a yeti. (I'm 5'10" barefoot, so I feel about 700 feet tall and overbearing when I wear heels. Oof.) I also hate people who are really vocal about hating everything because they think it makes them look "cool" or "above it"—particularly people who won't ever allow themselves to like "mainstream" things like movies with Will Smith in them or something, because anything successful or well-liked cannot possibly have any value to them.

Annoying.

I dislike it when people go on too long about the things they dislike! Hey-ohhhhh!

In closing:

In retrospect, I would like to thank Miss April Marie for her participation and wish her nothing but the best!
