The Quakes
Negative Charge
Orrexx Records
Review by Rev.DAN
You know there have been a lot of great psychobilly releases this year. However there is one album that was done so well that (unless something else comes along) I can honestly say “fuck it this album was the best of this year” . Now I know what your thinking. “This guy….This fucking guy is full of shit”. Nope, this to me is the best album that has been put out this year. I mean no disrepsect to the other psychobilly bands out there, but this album has all the elements of a great album. There are sing a longs, there are songs that will make the oldest fan wanna get out there and wreck. Negative Charge comes from on of the best psychobilly bands out there right now, THE QUAKES!! Now a lot of people might say that it sucks because its just Paul Roman and a few kids. If you have never seen this band live, go jump off a bridge or something. He has found two very talented musicians in Kenny Hill and Juan Carlos. Both guys bring a real sense of youthfulness to the band and I can see it in Paul that he feeds off of that. A total rebirth of The Quakes. Oh, but hell no it does not stop there. This album has a little bit of help. Paul brought out some killer musicians to help make this album what it is. With help from members of Tiger Army, Hola Ghost, and The Aggrolites, there is not much more I have to say about this. Some very notable tracks include “Seven Seas Alone”, “Ready For A War” and “Ghost Town” (which is my favorite song right now and number one on my iPod top 25). Oh and when you pick up the CD, be sure to check out some of the photos on the CD, yeah we did a few of them.
