Reverend Horton Heat and the Street Dogs (December 30, 2009 House of Blues Anaheim,CA)
First of all can I say I love HOB’s Two For Tuesdays. I picked up tickets to this show for cheap. What was not to like about this show. The Rev and the Street Dogs. Only two band on the bill this night and that’s all that were needed. After partaking of a few Newcastles I was ready for the Street Dogs. They came out promptly at 8 and proceeded to give us an hours’ worth of their great punk rock. Mike and the boys were in typical form (rocking the crowd and giving us their all). We were treated to some new Street Dogs songs that have yet to be recorded since they will be doing that early this year. After their intense set Mike and Tobe jumped into the crowd and surfed around to end their night. It was going to be hard to top this set.
The Rev came out and started with “Reverend Horton Heat’s Big Blue Car”. They ran down their usual set playing classics like “Bales of Cocaine” and “Marijuana”. They even threw in a few holiday songs from their Christmas CD as we saw the Rev take the stand up and Jimbo the guitar for “We Three Kings” and “Run, Run Rudolph”. A great show, but the Street Dogs stole this show from the Rev, I can’t wait to see both bands again, that’s for sure.
