David Pollack is the founder of Destiny Tour-booking. A European Booking Agency for bands touring there, including Mad Sin. Justin asks David a few questions about what booking agents do for bands.

Can you please tell us the duties/responsibilities of a booking agent?

Hmmm. Tough one, for in the traditional sense it would be to hold venues, make the best deals you can for the bands, contracts and cost control. In my head it goes further preproduction, hotels, flights, vans-Nightliners, and marketing, so in our case a micro management for the European market which is, to say the least, a lot of work and responsibility.

How many bands does a booking agent usually have?

Another though one,there is no norm for this, some have 5 some have 100.

How does a band come about obtaining a booking agent or does the booking agency go about looking for the band?

Again, I can only say in our case, a lot of word of mouth (other bands recommended us to other bands) and listen for the talent and hope that between our good work and the bands good music that people will enjoy them for their goodness.
