![]() |
Please introduce yourselves.
David Howling - vocals
Dani Redrum - drums
Damien Omen - guitars
N. Fiend - bassGive us a brief history of Demonia?
NF - In 1999, Damien and I started the band, we went through a bunch of lineups and eventually met and did shows with TFMU. After TFMU broke up, we kept in touch and started jamming out. We started doing shows with David and Daniin late 2008.
What attracted you guys to horror?
DH - Growing up, watching Elvira: the Mistress of the Dark and The Howling movies, watching Faces of Death, all that stuff but more because of the mysticism I found in them, more specifically, werewolves. That was always my thing.
DR - An overall attraction to the morbid and the macabre. As a child, I always identified with the monsters in horror movies than the "heroes" and also (lol) the insatiable need for blood
DO - My ever growing fascination with dark subject matter. And I was just always was drawn towards understanding what really defined "evil". I've always been easily entertained by blood.
NF - When I was a little kid, horror movies and scary stuff always made me feel relaxed and I came to enjoy this more and more as I got older. Besides, there is a more philosophical side that one can find in horror if you look for it deep enough. Plus gory shit is cool.
What do you think of the horror music scene and where it's going?
Demonia - We definitely think it's growing and is becoming more consistent. That's not saying what comes out of it is always good or bad, but it's more than what it used to be 10 years ago. We've all been in the scene as individuals and have seen really good bands, and some really not so good bands, but it's great knowing that people are still die-hard about this type of music. We just hope to offer a darker concept as far as what we think horror 'rock' is about. Musically, we're trying to explore what we believe constitutes our idea of horror and the intensity of its sound.
What are some of your favorite bands you've played with so far?
Demonia - In no specific order: Michale Graves, 45 Grave, Frankenstein, The Devils Bats, The Returners, Order Of the Fly, Stellar Corpses, Revlon Dead, The Rhythm Coffin, etc. Everybody we've done shows with has been really cool.

What bands would you like to tour with?
Demonia - Blitzkid, Gorgeous Frankenstein, Calabrese, Wednesday 13, Son of Sam but really, we'd like to be able to tour with:
DR - King Diamond, W.A.S.P., Carcass
DH - Rob Zombie, Danzig, Dokken
DO - KISS lol, Slayer, Metallica
NF - Samhain, Entombed, and old ass Dark Funeral
and P.S. we listen to a A LOT of metal (lol)
What is the creative process for Demonia, when writing music?
Demonia - There are two ways we write songs. One is we jam out, keep what we think sounds good, and then keep adding to it. Secondly, we listen to the whispers of the dead.
When is the full length album coming out?
Demonia - If Oprah decides to fund it, really, really soon.
What is Demonia's goal in music?
Demonia - Our goal is show people, the meaning of Horror...Horror...Horror. (bonus points if you know where that's from)
Any videos in mind to help put yourselves out there visually?
Demonia - We plan on releasing something in the near future; no specific details but we can tell you this much, it involves gallons of blood, naked women, and goat-like creatures.
Where can people go to educate themselves on Demonia?
Demonia - All of our info/history can be found on our MySpace: www.myspace.com/demonia and in various Satanic worship doctrines.
Would you like to add anything I missed?
DH - I'm hoping to meet you all just for your sake, not on a full moon.
DR - We hope to offer some sort of re-animation to horror rock fans. Just remember, we're not zombies...we make them muahahahahaa pass me the re-agent
DO - I just want to kick people in the teeth and sock them in the throat, musically that is haha
NF - I just want people to know there's an alternative to what's become the norm in horror rock scene.
Thanks for doing the interview. Keep rockin!
Thanks for this awesome interview, keep doing what you're doing. It’s sites like these that help keep the scene dead-alive.
