If you think about the city of Temecula, California you think wineries and Indian casinos. The last thing you would think of is psychobilly. Yet in Temecula exists a great psychobilly band in the Dead Sled Demons. The Dead Sled Demons took some time with us to give us their thoughts on not only Temecula but also what their band is up to. These guys had a lot of things to say and are just good guys.
Who are you guys?
Scott: We’re the Dead Sled Demons. We’re from Temecula, California and I don’t suggest you fucking go there if you have anything to do with any counterculture. It’s kind of sad.
It’s a bunch of old people drinking wine?
Scott: Yeah it’s a bunch of old people drinking wine. Why do you think we’re unemployed?
Johnny: It’s beer and jerky though, that’s about it.
So the counterculture there is really nothing?
Matty: It’s us plus about four other people
Scott: Other than that you have hardcore and punk, that’s about the only thing. We’re not talking about good punk. We’re talking about trash punk, guys that think they’re hardcore and then go back to their three-story home at night.
You guys have played with the Rocketz a few times and the Rocketz really like you guys. How did you get hooked up with them?
Scott: at the Doll Hut
Johnny: Yeah we played the Doll Hut
Scott: we played there one day and Tony was working the door and there was nobody there, nobody had showed up yet and Tony just keeps on running in from the door because there is nobody out there yet and keeps running in from the door starts wrecking and then running back out. He was just having a ball so we’ve been playing with Tony since. He’s a cool guy.
As far as recording as far as your music goes what do you have out what kind of merch do you have?
Johnny: A shitty old demo CD, we’re recording a new demo right now
Scott: In my house. We just got the cash to get our own recording stuff. We’re going to start recording all the bitch ass punk kids and we’re going to charge them to record in our house and make some money off those kids.
Any time frame that it’s going to get done?
Johnny: Maybe a month or two, we’ll have our demo
Scott: we should have four songs done by the end of the month
Matty: We should have nine songs done by the end of the month
Johnny: It depends how many shows we have booked
Scott: If we have any time off we’re going to have a full on like 9 song CD demo going on but if we keep on booking shows like we have lately we don’t have the time to record. We need new shit everybody has heard that song!
Have you played a lot of shows lately?
Scott: Lately we’ve been booked pretty much solid, but we kind of hitting a low spot now so we are going to get that time to record.
Who do you guys hook up with to get shows, is it just whoever? Do you get them from MySpace?
Scott: MySpace fucking rocks!
Johnny: So many people say MySpace is gay but that’s whats gotten us this far
Scott: Knock it as much as you want, but when you have a show out and you can post a bulletin and have a couple hundred replies for it . . .fuck.

As far as being brothers how is it being in a band?
Matty: I hate this fucker!
Scott: We get at each other’s necks, but for brothers we aren’t bad. I mean we’ve gone to fists quite a few times, but now that he’s six foot two I’m kind of ruing the day that we go back.
Matty: Because we’re brothers and we fought our whole life a band fight is nothing we get over it in a day.
Scott: Other band members will be like “I don’t want to play anymore!” and we are like what you still aren’t over that that was like a whole five minutes ago.
Matty: We’re done with it.
Where’s the farthest you guys have played before?
Johnny: L.A.? That’s pretty far for Temecula.
All: that’s a long way from Temecula.
Johnny: We’re going to do shows in Mexico probably soon.
Matty: Me and Johnny’s other band, Graveyard Drifters, have been getting a lot of shows down there. So we are going to get hooked up by them and we’re just going to keep connecting down there.
Scott: And that’s going to be interesting since nobody in our band speaks like a word in Spanish.
Matty: We’ll bring Mosie.
Johnny:We’ll bring the Drifters.
Anything you guys want to add or say?
Johnny: Dead Boy Productions is bad ass!
Ok so what other bands have you played with?
(They all start naming off bands) Zombillyz, Henchmen, Coffin Draggers, Coffin Nails, the Howlers, Three Bad Jacks, Skunx.
Is there any particular place you guys like playing the most?
Scott: The most fun we have had in a long time was honestly at Ginger’s. That was a fucking blast. You get to a lot of shows and it’s honestly like.
Matty: You go play now. Now leave. You’re done oh alright, we’re going to help you take your shit out because we’re on a time schedule.
Scott: Ginger’s was relaxed, it was kickback, it was a ball, if you find somebody that didn’t have a great time that night, punch them in the head because there is something wrong with them.
